Managers hold positions of authority within an organization granting them power to make decisions, allocate resources, and direct employees to achieve organizational goals. This power enables managers to shape the work environment and influence the success of their departments.

Role model managers actively demonstrate the values and behaviors they expect from their teams. Additionally, role model managers ensure their actions and messaging are thoughtful, purposeful, and aligned with their organization’s goals and values. They set the standard and are the living example of the communication culture they want their team to adopt. This reinforces a shared sense of purpose and direction, leading to stronger collaboration and higher morale.

Facilitator Information
Karin Hamilton Adjunct in Management for the Silberman College of Business at Fairleigh Dickinson University.
She has extensive experience in both business and academic administration in the areas of strategic and tactical planning, project management, and training and development. Her past positions include serving in a project leadership and advisory capacity for two presidents at Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Karin has written numerous guides and manuals on approaching and optimizing learning situations that have been used by business professionals, educational administrators, faculty and students. Her research interests are primarily in learning, pedagogy and use of technology to improve learning outcomes. Karin was one of the two originators of an innovative program for teaching adult learners using andragogical methodologies in a partial distance-learning format.

She received her M.B.A. at Fairleigh Dickinson University and her B.A. at Valparaiso University.
