NJ Transit Newark Update: Newark Penn Station Improvements and Bus Network Redesign 1/25/2021 11:00 AM - 1/25/2021 12:00 Noon

Governor Murphy has announced that Newark’s historic Penn Station will receive $190 million in renovations and upgrades over the next five years. The first $30 million in work will begin immediately and will focus on aesthetics such as restoration of the classic benches in the waiting room, installation of brighter lighting, updating of the bathrooms, improved HVAC and air-handling, fresh paint and tile, and a deep clean of the limestone exterior to once again showcase the architecturally significant façade. Updates to Newark Penn Station have long been a priority for NRBP members.

NJ Transit is also undertaking a Bus Network Redesign Initiative for Greater Newark that will analyze the area’s 38 local bus routes, and gather community input, to better address the region’s mobility needs. The results can have a profound impact on the quality of life for residents while affecting the needs of employers and real estate development.

New Jersey Transit’s Rich Schaefer, Chief Engineer – Design and Environmental and Jeremy Colangelo-Bryan, Chief Planner will present an overview of the Newark Penn improvements. RJ Palladino, a Senior Program Manager at NJ Transit will discuss the Newark Bus Network Redesign effort.

This program will be of interest to a wide range of members including construction-related companies, entertainment venues and restaurants, employers, colleges, community-serving non-profits and more.

Celebrate the New Year with NRBP at Happy Hour!

We're excited to partner with Cool Vines to continue our Happy Hour networking programs! Each event will feature wine, beer, and spirits makers and will include ample opportunity to connect with attendees following the demonstration or discussion.

This session will feature Montclair Brewery.

Montclair Brewery is a microbrewery and tasting room that was born from the desires of co-owner and head brewer, Leo, to turn his passion of home brewing and cooking into an exciting and growing business. He and his marketing guru wife, Denise, opened their doors to all in October 2018. Their mission is to build a stronger community one beer at a time.

Montclair Brewery features locally-inspired, and culturally intriguing beers. Whether it is the African baobab fruit, Caribbean or African hibiscus, passion fruit or other ingredients, the husband and wife owners’ African and Caribbean roots are often infused into traditional and not-so traditional beer styles. The result is an extensive and eclectic offering for both craft beer devotees and those new to craft beer. There is usually a Montclair Brewery style for everyone.

The featured brews will be: Baobiere Golden Ale, Black is Beautiful Stout, and MB Lager. These selections can be purchased at Cool Vines Newark (625 Broad Street, located on the ground level of the Hahne & Co. building). Cool Vines offers delivery for customers in Newark and surrounding areas.
