Event Description:
NRBP’s Brown Bag Lunch is designed to provide members with a venue to network with one another while listening to speakers address issues that are timely, relevant, and engaging.

Ms. Fitzgerald, Mr. Whitmer, and Mr. Doyle and will offer tips on how to work with the media, including suggestions on the best ways to communicate your information. They will also talk about what makes a good story and how you can craft story pitches that get the attention of reporters and editors.

As reporter for NJBIZ, Beth Fitzgerald reports on a wide variety of businesses and specializes in covering health care and nonprofits. She previously was an editor and reporter for The Star-Ledger, with 30 years of experience covering business in all sectors of the state, including pharmaceuticals, financial services, transportation, energy, retailing and small business.

Kevin Whitmer has been editor of The Star-Ledger since October, 2009. He oversees all print, digital and video content at New Jersey’s largest newspaper and most influential news organization in New Jersey. He also has worked at the New York Daily News, the New York Post, Star Magazine and the Courier-News, where he began his career in 1986.

Mr. Doyle has been news director at WBGO in Newark since 1998. He anchors the morning news and serves as a sidekick for Jazz 88 morning host Gary Walker. He is the co-host of the station's weekly public affairs show, the WBGO Journal. Mr. Doyle also anchors weekend sports on 1010WINS and is the host of SportsJam, a podcast that connects music and sports.
