The Future of the Port: Economic Engine or Diminishing Resource?
Cargo business through the Port of New York/New Jersey rebounded in 2010 surprisingly well given the significant downturn in 2008 and 2009 due to the world-wide recession that has affected virtually every sector in our region. Given intense competition among domestic ports, ever-changing shipping dynamics, and great discussion about the expansion of the Panama Canal and the height of the Bayonne Bridge, we have invited a panel to address the opportunities and challenges for maintaining the port’s competitiveness. Speakers will also discuss how commerce coming through the port can spur economic development opportunities and jobs.
Speakers include Richard Larrabee, port director, Port Authority of NY/NJ; Joe Curto, New York Shipping Association; George Kelley, Langan Engineering and Environmental Services; Michael Morrow, The Judge Organization; and Gary Love, Faps, Inc.
Supported by Society for Professional Marketing Services, NJ Chapter.
