Event Description:
**Please use this online registration if you will be attending the presentation only**
Newark Mayor Cory Booker has proposed, and the Municipal Council will soon consider, the creation of a municipal utilities authority (MUA) in an effort to address multiple challenges including aging water/sewer infrastructure, ineffective water/sewer operations and maintenance, and City budget constraints.
This forum will feature a presentation describing the proposal and what it intends to accomplish while providing an opportunity for members to ask questions about the reasons for and consequences of transferring water/sewer responsibilities from the City to a new authority.
Newark’s ability to provide water and sewer services safely, reliably and efficiently affects every resident, visitor, business and institution. As an organization committed to making Newark a destination for people to live, work and visit, NRBP has been a consistent proponent for activities that strengthen our region’s infrastructure. This is an important issue for Newark and NRBP believes its members should understand the issue and its potential impact on their organizations.
Following the presentation, NRBP’s Business Advocacy Council (BAC) will meet to discuss the MUA proposal and consider NRBP’s role on behalf of its members. The Council is comprised of members who help NRBP evaluate how public policy issues may impact Newark’s business competitiveness and determine how our organization can promote business-building initiatives.
A member company is allowed only one representative on the Council. Please contact Chip Hallock at challock@newarkrbp.org with any questions about the Business Advocacy Council.
NRBP members who would like to attend the forum and join the Business Advocacy Council in the discussion following the presentation, are asked to use the following registration link:
